The selling price may not mean ready for relocation
Most owner-listed prefabricated buildings quote only the existing structure. Dismantling, packaging, transport and installation at the new site may be additional. Do not make economic comparisons for 2026 until responsibilities and costs are clear. Establish whether the seller transfers selected parts or the full building package.
Technical inventory before dismantling
List building dimensions and components. Have panels, structure, roof, doors, windows and service parts inspected. Existing plans and assembly details help assess reinstallation. Check availability and costs of missing or damaged parts before buying.
- Define the dismantling sequence and marking method for components.
- List components requiring protection during transport.
- Have qualified teams disconnect electrical and water connections.
- Assess new placement and foundation needs separately.
The new site differs from the old one
Climate, ground, placement conditions and purpose may differ. Old foundation dimensions or previous use do not automatically establish new-site suitability. Assess structure separately for layout changes or added storeys. Discuss plot installation and permits with the authority.
New and used comparison
Add purchase, dismantling, transport, missing parts/repairs, new foundation, assembly and external connections. Also record uncertainties about technical condition and service scope. New prefabricated models at the same delivery level for obtain a current quotation. The real benefit of a low advertised price becomes clear only when the full scope is established.
Frequently asked questions
Can all dismantled parts be reused?
It depends on condition and technical suitability. Damage, connection issues or product availability problems may create additional costs.
Can I use the old foundation at the new site?
Assess new ground and design needs separately. The old site's solution does not automatically apply.
Is dismantling included in the sale?
Verify in the written scope. Dismantling, transport and reinstallation may have different responsible parties.
